Training in Psychedelic Facilitation
About Alma Institute
Alma Institute was born out of our great hope, and the world’s deep need, for an equitable, accessible, and culturally-sensitive psychedelic healing ecosystem. We brought together some of the field’s leading voices in psychedelics & social justice with dedicated, heart-centered students who are committed to psychedelic healing in service of all living beings.
Grounded in relationship and reciprocity, collective healing is at the heart of who Alma has been, and all we aim to do as our work continues to evolve.
Alma Institute is a 501(c)3 nonprofit educational institution which was approved by the Oregon Health Authority and the Higher Education Coordinating Commission in 2022. The organization is funded by tuition fees and philanthropic partnerships.
Previously, our core offering has been a Psychedelic Facilitator Certificate Program which meets state requirements to certify psilocybin facilitators in accordance with the Psilocybin Services Act. This educational program was also open to applicants beyond Oregon who wished to participate for their own personal growth and discovery. In 2023, we graduated 36 psilocybin facilitators, having provided scholarships to half of our students.
In 2024, Alma Institute paused training programs and voluntarily surrendered our OHA and HECC approval in order for our team to focus on the creation of a new licensed psilocybin service center. Cora Center, which is now open in Portland, Oregon, is a separate entity which furthers our mission in the spirit of our work we began at Alma Institute.
